Configure Wake
Configuration flow
Wake's configuration screen is organized into two main steps:
- Choose a Jira saved filter.
- Add and configure up to five fields.
1. Choose a filter
Select a saved filter available to your Jira account. Wake displays an issue count and can show the filter JQL for confirmation.
A filter may be absent when:
- it is private to another user;
- it is not shared with you;
- it was deleted;
- your Jira permissions changed; or
- Jira temporarily rate-limits the filter list.
2. Add fields
Add up to five fields. The five-field limit includes display columns, group-by fields, and numeric metric fields.
Wake intentionally excludes large or unsuitable fields, including:
- Description
- Environment
- Attachments
- Comments
- Worklogs
- Thumbnails
- Issue restriction data
Wake also requests a small set of helper fields such as Summary, Issue Type, Status, Priority, and subtask information when needed for links and display.
Field types
Wake classifies fields for configuration:
- Category: may be used as a group-by dimension.
- Number: may be summed or averaged.
- Display: may be displayed as a column but is not offered for grouping or numeric aggregation.
Set column order
Use the arrows beside a selected field to change its position in the Main table. Column order is separate from nested grouping order.
Configure grouping
Check Group by this field for a categorical field.
- Free: one group-by field.
- Paid/trial: up to two nested group-by fields.
When two dimensions are selected, use the Level controls to choose the outer and inner nesting order. Moving a table column does not change the nesting level.
Configure numeric metrics
For a numeric field, choose the supported operation shown by the configuration screen, such as Sum or Average. A metric requires at least one group-by category because the Grouped view needs a category under which to calculate the result.
- Free: one aggregate metric.
- Paid/trial: multiple metrics, subject to the app's configured field limit.
Save
Wake requires:
- one saved filter; and
- at least one selected field.
After saving, the gadget loads the selected issues and renders the three tabs.
Changing an existing configuration
Open the gadget menu and choose Edit. When a Paid configuration is opened under Free behavior, dimensions or metrics above the Free limits are disabled until an active Paid/trial license is reported again.
